Looking for a new and exciting opportunity in executive management? Join the Central Land Council’s Executive Management Team as the General Manager Regional and Development Services, one of three newly created General Manager roles in Alice Springs. This position is an Aboriginal identified position.
The CLC is established by the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act, with an elected 90 member Aboriginal Council. It has been effectively fulfilling its statutory functions through representing, protecting and advocating for Aboriginal peoples’ rights and interests for over 45 years.
This role will report to the Chief Executive Officer and operates with a considerable degree of autonomy. You will be responsible for managing all assigned Business Units, fostering organisational capability, and cultivating professional, cooperative, multi-disciplinary teams. As a strategic leader, you will champion the CLC's representative role, statutory functions and goals, unifying and inspiring Business Units with strategic direction and driving agreed change agendas and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities include overseeing the performance of assigned Business Unit managers and consultants in accordance with the CLC's organisational objectives. You will need to obtain a comprehensive understanding of our organisational requirements and be capable of motivating and developing staff to achieve our goals.
The assigned Business Units presently include:
- Land Management
- Community Development
- Economic Development
- Native Title Program (including PBC support)
- Regional Services Officers
- Tennant Creek Office
You will be responsible for the viability and alignment of operational plans and budget submissions with statutory functions and the Corporate Plan. This will require you to make timely contributions to reporting, budgeting, performance reporting, briefs, and risk management activities across the assigned Business Units.
Communication is key to this role, and you will need to possess exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, which includes the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, submissions, briefings, and general correspondence. You will be required to use these skills to nurture talent, identify development opportunities, and establish strong relationships with senior representatives of government and other Aboriginal organisations.
To be successful in this role, you should hold formal qualifications in business management or equivalent, and have sound knowledge of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act and related processes and procedures.

We offer relocation assistance to help settle you in Alice Springs, including subsidised, fully furnished accommodation for up to four months. Remuneration range for this role is base salary $201,649-$240,960 plus 13.5% superannuation. We offer 5 weeks of annual leave, plus a paid Christmas shutdown. This role is also allocated a fully maintained vehicle.
