Looking for a new and exciting opportunity in executive management? Join the Central Land Council’s Executive Management Team as the General Manager Professional Services, one of three newly created General Manager roles in Alice Springs. This position is an Aboriginal identified position.
The CLC is established by the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act, with an elected 90 member Aboriginal Council. It has been effectively fulfilling its statutory functions through representing, protecting and advocating for Aboriginal peoples’ rights and interests for over 45 years.
This newly created position is perfect for a strategic leader; you will be responsible for the efficient and effective oversight of all assigned Business Units while adopting a whole-organisation focus. You will cultivate professional, cooperative multi-disciplinary teams and build organisational capability to enable the achievement of the CLC’s goals and statutory functions.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for the management of all assigned business units and cultivating professional, cooperative multi-disciplinary teams. As a strategic leader, you will drive strong organisational performance and ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements, internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities of this role include strategic leadership, overseeing the performance of assigned Business Unit managers, achieving results and monitoring performance, organisational representation and stakeholder engagement, and taking all reasonable steps to employ and promote Aboriginal people through effective recruitment, selection procedures, training, and development.
The assigned Business Units presently include:
- Legal
- Policy
- Communications and media
- Anthropology
- Minerals and Energy
You will need to have formal qualifications in business management or equivalent and sound knowledge of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act, Native Title Act, and related processes and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, including negotiation, consultation, conflict resolution, and liaison with senior staff, clients, community organisations, industry groups, government departments, and agencies. You will also need to have the ability to achieve organisational and operational objectives through leading and developing teams and creating a positive working environment.

We offer relocation assistance to help settle you in Alice Springs, including subsidised, fully furnished accommodation for up to four months. Remuneration range for this role is base salary $201,649-$240,960 plus 13.5% superannuation. We offer 5 weeks of annual leave, plus a paid Christmas shutdown. This role is also allocated a fully maintained vehicle.
